Hello Friends! I am Brittany Colt, a photography Teacher and Guide, Currently residing in The Eastern Sierra.

Whether it is taking a short hike or backpacking in the High Sierra; I find myself addicted to the thrill of discovery. I believe all of you nature lovers and artists can relate. Being a photography educator and guide in the Sierra has given me endless opportunities to explore, photograph, and make art. These awe inspiring landscapes jolt excitement through my veins with the opportunity of endless creativity.

My ability to “see” is unique. Being born blind in one eye has definitely influenced my photographic style. Not only am I seeking out the grand landscape, but also pushing myself to find unique intimate perspectives of this beautiful earth. I am driven by the light and the way it dances in the trees or shines on the rock faces. Chasing this light helps me to reveal my subjects subtle spirit.

At age 10, I asked my parents for a camera after a family vacation in the Olympic National Forest. I was completely taken aback by the vast, raw beauty of this earth that I knew I NEEDED to explore and make art. My parents ended up giving me their old Kodak 110 camera which enabled me to see a wide angle perspective for the first time in my life. That in itself astounded me and drove me become the visual artist that I am today.

Through the years, I have hiked, backpacked, and explored in some of the most amazing landscapes while gaining experience in graphic design, film, and wedding photography. Eventually though, I went back to my greatest passion, landscape photography, and quickly discovered another passion, educating others. Through my experience of being Staff Photographer and Education Coordinator for the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite National Park has led me to meet fellow photographers from all around the world and show them some of the most beautiful places on earth all the while opening up doors to endless creativity. It brings me great joy to teach others and expand the knowledge of this beautiful art form in one of the most amazing places on earth!
